To unlock Clampdown in Cyberpunk 2077, install update 2.5, finish the main job The Heist, complete two gigs for Wakako Okada, and wait for her message. Those are the requirements published by CD PROJEKT RED. A five-piece gear set inspired by King can be collected during the quest, while gameplay guides also identify the iconic Tech revolver Coronation at the same pickup point.

Official checklist for unlocking Clampdown

  1. Check your game version. Clampdown was added in the free 2.5 patch, released on October 22, 2026. Confirm the installed version before searching for the quest.
  2. Finish The Heist. CD PROJEKT RED explicitly names this main-story job. Normal access to the open world after its follow-up sequences will help you find the gigs.
  3. Complete two Wakako gigs. The official notes do not require two specific contracts. Look for this fixer's jobs in Westbrook and make sure the gigs are completed, not merely discovered on the map.
  4. Wait for and reply to Wakako's message. GamesRadar+ identifies the English message subject as A Request from King. After the text conversation, track Clampdown in your journal.

Do not confuse Clampdown with Welcome to Paradise, another quest added in the same patch: Street Cred level 15 is a published requirement for that other job, not for Clampdown. The 2.5 notes do not prescribe a fixed number of hours or days to wait, or a specific Wakako gig.

Where the quest starts and where to find King's items

Minor spoiler warning: the sections below describe early Clampdown locations and objectives without revealing its final decisions.

After answering Wakako, follow the objective marker to a BuryGer in Arroyo, Santo Domingo, near the MLK & Brandon fast-travel point. King calls V about an operation involving Night City Prison. According to the guides consulted, the gear can be found inside the prison, shortly after escaping the first cell.

Follow the objective into the bathroom or changing area and find a smuggled duffel bag under a bench. Interacting with it equips V with King's clothing and the Coronation revolver. This is a quest pickup, not a store purchase or a separate paid item. VGTimes reports that the equipment remains yours after escaping the prison.

What are the five clothing pieces and the weapon?

CD PROJEKT RED officially confirms a five-piece set but does not name its components. Beebom and VGTimes identify the following clothing pieces and weapon:

  • King's Glasses: eyewear for the face slot.
  • King's Coat: outer-torso clothing.
  • King's Bulletproof Vest: inner-torso clothing.
  • King's Pants: legwear.
  • Icon America Dust Devil Utility Boots: the footwear that completes the set described by the guides.
  • Coronation: an iconic Tech revolver acquired alongside the clothes; it is an additional weapon, not a sixth clothing piece.

The distinction matters: the developer confirms five pieces of clothing, whereas the individual item names, precise location, and revolver come from independent quest coverage.

What to check if Wakako never sends the message

First verify patch 2.5 and your progress through The Heist. Next, check the journal to confirm that at least two finished gigs belong to Wakako rather than another fixer. Look for unanswered messages from her, since you must respond to the King conversation to proceed.

GamesRadar+ says the message arrives after the milestones, without specifying a timetable. Beebom suggests continuing to play or using the wait function if the contact takes longer. That is a practical suggestion from a guide, not an official number of in-game days guaranteed to trigger the quest. CD PROJEKT RED also does not state that the two gigs must necessarily have been completed after installing the patch.

In its Brazilian launch post of October 22, CD PROJEKT RED listed PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as having received the update; its international announcement also included Mac. The earlier notice had listed the Mac App Store edition as arriving later. If availability is unclear, check the specific platform and storefront rather than assuming your installation is already version 2.5.

Does the quest also pay eddies?

The official patch notes consulted confirm no specific cash payment. The independent guides disagree: Beebom says Clampdown awards no eddies, whereas VGTimes reports 7,000. With no resolution in the primary documentation, this guide treats the five-piece set as the officially confirmed reward; Coronation and its location are documented by the specialist guides. Do not use a particular cash amount as proof of whether you have completed Clampdown.
