Marvel Unlimited is closing: what will not transfer to WEBTOON?

Libraries, reading history, and purchases can be imported into the new Marvel Comics service, but bookmarks and lists cannot. Here are the deadlines and precautions.

Marvel Unlimited is set to shut down in December 2026, but not all reader data will be lost. The new Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON, scheduled for November 16, will let users import their library, saved issues, reading history and progress, followed items, and purchased or redeemed digital comics. Bookmarks and personal lists will not transfer. This is not an automatic migration: readers must create an account with the new service and import their data.

The key distinction is between saved issues, which WEBTOON says can be brought over, and bookmarks and lists, which its FAQ explicitly excludes. The information below reflects announcements and terms checked on October 23, 2026, ahead of the new app launch.

What transfers and what stays behind

Data or featureAnnounced statusWhat to know
Library and saved issuesCan be importedRequires importing after registering with the new service.
Reading history and progressCan be importedThe transfer has been announced; check the records afterward.
Purchased or redeemed digital comicsCan be importedPreviously acquired or redeemed items can be brought over without requiring a new subscription to read those purchases.
Followed series, characters and other itemsCan be importedWEBTOON’s FAQ includes the transfer of follows.
BookmarksWill not transferRecord any references you will need later.
Personal listsWill not transferDo not mistake old lists for new organization features promised after launch.
Marvel Unlimited accountNot automaticallyCreate a WEBTOON account and link the MyDisney account associated with Unlimited.
Subscription and billing detailsNot automaticallyThe old subscription does not turn into a new enrollment; Marvel has announced a separate process for unused balances.
Offline downloaded filesNo transfer confirmedThe documents reviewed do not promise that locally downloaded files will move between apps.

Can be imported means a feature has been announced, not that a transfer has already succeeded. Having an issue in your library also does not mean you own the entire subscription catalog.

Accounts, purchased comics, and subscriptions are different

The new service terms require readers to create a WEBTOON account and link the MyDisney account used for Marvel Unlimited. That makes the migration process possible, but does not imply that the old login credentials or payment details move automatically. Final interface instructions had not yet been fully published when this article was checked.

Purchased or redeemed digital comics receive an important exception: under the new service terms, readers do not need a Marvel Comics subscription to access qualifying items they purchased or redeemed and transferred. That differs from reading the many titles included in a subscription plan.

For active Unlimited subscriptions, Marvel announced an automatic prorated refund for the unused portion, expected around November 16, 2026. The published guidance is to allow three to five business days for the credit. Billing questions for subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google should be taken to the relevant store. Because the replacement has its own plans, readers should not assume the old billing arrangement will continue automatically.

Timeline: when to import and when to check

2026 dateWhat changes
October 5Marvel Unlimited stopped accepting new sign-ups.
November 16 (scheduled)Planned launch of Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON, with the announced ability to begin importing libraries.
December 7Marvel Unlimited stops comic reading and new additions. Marvel recommends importing before this date so results can be checked.
December 21Announced deadline to browse the old library to verify migration, without restoring reading access in Unlimited.
December 28Announced removal and retirement date for the old app.

According to Marvel, readers who were already subscribers on October 5 retain complimentary reading access to Unlimited through December 7. The December 7 to 21 window is for library verification, not reading. Do not treat December 21 as a guaranteed date to start migration.

How to minimize lost information

  1. Before November 16: make personal notes or records of the bookmarks and lists you want to rebuild. Check that you can access the email and MyDisney account connected to Unlimited.
  2. At the new service launch: create a WEBTOON account and follow the official instructions for linking MyDisney and importing your data. Installing the new app alone is not evidence that migration has taken place.
  3. Before December 7: check saved titles, reading history and progress, follows, and purchased or redeemed comics in the new service against your old Unlimited records.
  4. By December 21: use the remaining old-library browsing access to investigate discrepancies and contact official support if items are missing. Do not delay the import until this stage.

What had not yet been confirmed

WEBTOON has announced features such as custom lists and multiple profiles for after launch. That is not a promise that old lists will be restored or that those features will be ready on November 16. The specific sources reviewed also do not confirm a transfer of offline downloads. The service terms allow geographic differences in availability, so the launch announcement alone does not establish every condition for readers in Brazil.

The replacement was announced with more than 35,000 comics and Base and Ultimate plans. Those details describe the new catalog, not a guarantee that every personal preference saved in Unlimited will reappear. Readers who want to preserve their organization should separately document bookmarks and lists, complete the supported import, and verify the results before the old app becomes inaccessible.
