Avengers: Doomsday brings together performers associated with the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Wakanda, and Thunderbolts*. Disney has confirmed numerous cast members and identified many characters, but an actor’s casting alone does not establish which version of a hero will appear or which reality they come from.
As of October 20, 2026, Disney lists a December 17, 2026 theatrical opening in Brazil and a December 18, 2026 release in the United States. No Brazilian Disney+ streaming date has been announced.
How to distinguish a casting announcement from a theory
The tables separate roles Disney explicitly identifies for the upcoming film from characters previously played by actors confirmed in the cast. An earlier production is part of an actor’s screen history, not proof that the same narrative continuity will carry over into Doomsday. The announced cast should not be mistaken for a final, exhaustive roster.
Doctor Doom: a familiar actor in a new role
Robert Downey Jr. previously played Tony Stark. Disney has announced him as Victor von Doom without confirming a family relationship, variant status, or story connection between the characters.
| Actor | Identified character or earlier association | Earlier screen appearance | Status for the new film |
|---|---|---|---|
| Robert Downey Jr. | Victor von Doom / Doctor Doom | Iron Man and Avengers films, as Tony Stark | Role identified by Disney |

Disney’s guide names the six veterans of the X-Men films and their characters. Channing Tatum is associated with Gambit through Deadpool & Wolverine; the consulted guide does not identify his new-film role in the same explicit way. None of this specifies which timeline each mutant will come from.

Other actors named in an official announcement
Disney’s corporate CinemaCon recap from April 2026 named Alex Livinalli and Wesley Holloway. Its October Brazilian cast guide does not specify their roles. Livinalli previously played Attuma, but that is not an explicit confirmation that he will reprise the character.
| Actor | Identified character or earlier association | Earlier screen appearance | Status for the new film |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Livinalli | Attuma (earlier role; new film role undisclosed) | Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Actor announced; role not individually specified |
| Wesley Holloway | Role undisclosed | No earlier franchise appearance identified in the sources consulted | Actor announced; role not individually specified |
What the announcement still does not establish
The marketing describes heroes from three distinct universes, but does not provide an official chart assigning each cast member to a particular Earth. It also does not confirm that Victor von Doom is Tony Stark, or make unannounced rumored appearances factual. Casting an actor from an older X-Men film cannot, on its own, settle questions about timelines, variants, or continuity.
Where and when will the movie be released?
The confirmed initial release is exclusively in theaters: December 17, 2026 in Brazil and December 18 in the United States. Disney says it will reach Disney+ later, but has not announced a date for Brazil. Release dates in other territories should not be treated as Brazil’s schedule.
