Ramayana: Part One is Nitesh Tiwari's new film adaptation of the Indian epic, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The trailers establish those central casting choices, present the conflict between Rama and Ravana, and form part of a multilingual release strategy. The first installment is announced for November 5, 2026, in India; Brazil's reported theatrical date is November 19, with Sony Pictures distributing. A worldwide marketing campaign therefore does not mean every country will open the film on the same day.
This report draws on Prime Focus Studios and Sony Pictures materials alongside news coverage available through October 21, 2026. Because the movie is still awaiting release on that date, promotional scenes, formats and schedules should be treated as subject to change.
Which Ramayana is featured in the 2026 trailers?
This is the first half of a two-film adaptation produced by Namit Malhotra through Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Nitesh Tiwari directs. The project adapts the epic traditionally attributed to Valmiki and should not be confused with other film and television versions of Ramayana.
Its presentation varies by market: Ramayana: Part One identifies the first installment, while Sony's international campaign uses Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. Brazilian publicity calls it Ramayana: O Nascimento de uma Lenda. These names refer to this same 2026 project rather than three separate movies.
Prime Focus Studios issued a statement on the first official trailer on July 30. On October 15, a new international campaign delivered another trailer in Hindi and English. In its coverage of this second material, The Indian Express describes Ravana confronting Indra, who is riding the elephant Airavata, and Rama fighting a creature in a forest using his bow and arrows. These images reveal the promotional visual approach but cannot establish the feature's complete final edit or ending.
Which cast members are confirmed?
The production company's July 2025 announcement identifies Ranbir Kapoor (Rama), Sai Pallavi (Sita), Yash (Ravana), Sunny Deol (Hanuman) and Ravie Dubey (Lakshmana). Coverage of the trailers and October campaign also identifies Arun Govil as Dasharatha and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi. Yash is also involved as a producer through Monster Mind Creations.
The promotional campaign centers on Rama, the prince associated with duty and sacrifice, and Ravana, the ruler who becomes his adversary. Sony's description frames this relationship as the film's central conflict. However, a confirmed casting credit does not mean all of an actor's scenes have appeared in the trailers or that the length of that role is known.
How do the Hindi and English trailers differ?
The two October 15 trailers do not use exactly the same dialogue. According to The Indian Express' comparison, the English narration introduces Rama through his human dimension, while the Hindi version explicitly identifies him as an incarnation of Vishnu. The Hindi trailer also adds lines describing Ravana's ambition to rule three realms. This distinction reflects how the campaign addresses different audiences; it does not establish that the finished film contains two incompatible stories.
Prime Focus stated that the first trailer launched globally in five Indian languages. For India's theatrical campaign, October coverage specifies Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The English-language publicity extends the international campaign, but it alone does not determine the audio or subtitle options that individual cinemas outside India will offer. In Brazil, entertainment outlets reported a Portuguese-dubbed trailer; whether a particular cinema offers dubbed, subtitled or other screenings will depend on its actual schedule.
Distribution and dates: India, overseas and Brazil
| Market | Announced date or window | Distribution and qualifications |
|---|---|---|
| India | November 5, 2026 | Announced opening for the first movie. Dharma Productions leads distribution in northern India's Hindi-speaking markets. The campaign cites five Indian languages. |
| International markets outside India | November 5, 2026, in worldwide marketing | Sony Pictures handles international distribution. The promotional date does not guarantee identical bookings in every country; local schedules still matter. |
| Brazil | November 19, 2026 | Brazilian theatrical release reported by Omelete and CinePOP, distributed by Sony Pictures and promoted as Ramayana: O Nascimento de uma Lenda. Venues and screening formats depend on exhibitors. |
The key distinction is between distribution coverage and a release date for a specific territory. Prime Focus's July 28 announcement assigns markets outside India to Sony without promising the same date in all of them. Later international promotion announced November 5, whereas Brazilian reports dated October 15 and 19 listed November 19 locally. Those announcements should not be merged into a supposed November 5 opening in Brazil.
IMAX, music and the second movie
The film was conceived for IMAX presentation, and the campaign also mentions other premium formats. That describes its technical and marketing plans, not a guarantee that every Brazilian city will offer IMAX screenings. The score brings together Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, with the soundtrack presented by T-Series according to Prime Focus. DNEG is involved in production and visual effects.
The follow-up, Ramayana: Part Two, remains planned for the Diwali period in 2027. That production timetable is neither a confirmed Brazilian opening date for the sequel nor a disclosure of how the first film ends.
What has the trailer not confirmed?
The videos identify major cast members, visual style, parts of the premise and the language campaign. On their own, they do not establish the final extent of any role, the definitive order of scenes, every cinema's schedule, a streaming date, or audio and subtitle choices in each city. For viewers in Brazil, the most useful information as of October 21, 2026, is the expected November 19 theatrical opening, with individual showtimes and formats to be checked with exhibitors.
